Situated on the beautiful Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers, the town boasts many quaint shops, restaurants and numerous other amenities such as a hospital, library and museum. The population is just over 2000 and proud of its historical significance. Mattawa is Ojibway for “The meeting of the waters”, and the waterways were the “401″ for traders in the early years of Canada. Mattawa celebrates its history every year in July with a unique festival called Voyageur Days . There are activities for the whole family including a new splash pad, and all only a short walk from Sid Turcotte Park.
